About Alyssa
Alyssa has loved horse for as long as she can remember, and started riding lessons when she was 7 years old. She has now been working with horses for 15 years and has competed extensive horse knowledge and training experience, including training wild mustangs and rescue horses. She has a Bachelor's of Science in Animal Sciences with an emphasis in Equine studies, and is currently the Equestrian Center Manager at Brasada Ranch. Alyssa has been praised for her patience and calm nature when working with horses. In the future, she hopes to go on to Clinton Anderson's Clinician Academy, and become a certified clinician.
The Method
Alyssa exclusively uses Clinton Anderson's methods while training horses. She is in no way endorsed or certified by Downunder Horsemanship or Clinton Anderson, but has studied the method extensively, and attended a clinic taught by Clinton himself. This method is centered around horse psychology and why a horse does what it does. Starting from the ground up, it works on gaining respect and control of the horse by using a variety of exercises that get the horse to use the thinking side of his brain. Combining desensitizing with sensitizing exercises, this helps create a horse that is light, responsive, and respectful, but not jumpy or fearful in any way.
